HRH The Princess Royal Visits Kishorn Port & Dry Dock – 13 May 2026

The Dry Dock was officially opened in 1976 by the then Prince Charles, making it a great honour to welcome Princess Anne to the port five decades later to unveil a commemorative plaque marking this important milestone.

During her visit, HRH toured the Dry Dock and the Kaami Wheelhouse – retained from a previous decommissioning project – and met with KPL Directors, port staff, contractors involved in the Phase 1a construction works, and former employees who worked at the yard during its early years.

The Princess Royal was shown the construction work completed to date and was clearly impressed by the scale and ambition of the development. She also took a keen interest in learning more about the local economy, the community, and housing within the area.

Despite a few heavy showers, the weather held up well enough for an enjoyable and memorable occasion, and the visit was considered a great success by all involved.
